About ShikshaBank
Our Story
The year 2020 cast a long shadow across the globe. As the COVID-19 pandemic swept through communities and entire nations faced unprecedented lockdowns, India, too, grappled with immense challenges. It was amidst this profound uncertainty and widespread distress that ShikshaBank emerged, not just as an idea, but as a beacon of hope.
Our founder, Mr. Gaurav Jain, witnessed firsthand the severe impact of the pandemic on families and especially on children. With daily life grinding to a halt, the immediate crisis was survival. Many families were left without income, struggling to put food on the table, and battling the virus itself. Driven by a deep sense of compassion and urgency, Mr. Jain, initially with his own resources and the support of his immediate community, swiftly mobilized efforts to address these critical needs.
Beyond immediate relief, a more insidious challenge loomed: the disruption of education. With schools indefinitely closed, children across the nation faced an abrupt shift from traditional classrooms to online learning – a transition that brought significant stress, anxiety, and learning gaps. Recognizing this pressing issue, ShikshaBank rapidly adapted its focus. We launched a series of innovative online programs designed to mitigate the stress of lockdown and make learning engaging and accessible. These initiatives included: Online Stress Relief Programs: Offering a much-needed outlet for children to connect and unwind. Antakshari Sessions: Fostering joy, connection, and cultural engagement. Basic English Speaking and Writing Workshops: Equipping children with foundational language skills. Art and Design Programs: Encouraging creativity and self-expression. These programs quickly gained traction, with over 500 children from across India participating, finding solace, learning new skills, and significantly reducing their lockdown-related stress.
